A tourist boat with around 76 people on board met with mishap at 5 pm, reports
said. Jalakanyaka, the tourist boat operated by the KTDC met with mishap at a spot called Manakkavala while some 2 km away from boat landing. Teams of Navy, police and the forest department are now engaged in rescue operation. Initial report says that most of the tourists are from Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Andra Pradesh, Panjab, Delhi and Kolkata.

Identified Victims: Vijay Sailesh (Punjab), Surya Prakash (Punjab), Jayaprakash (TamilNadu), Anushwa Devi (TamilNadu), Saliha (TamilNadu), Adithyan (TamilNadu), Dharani (Periayakulam), Sudha (Palladam), Anoop Panday (Kolkata), Pradeep Kumar (Kolkata), K.K Deepak (Kolkata), Alka (Delhi), Althaf (Delhi), Sandhya Jain (Delhi), Hareendra Singh (Delhi), Hari (Delhi), Sudha (Delhi), Arun Kumar (Delhi), Pradeep Kumar Ben, Parthiv Sarma. 18 bodies are kept in Periyar hospital.

In Treatment: Twenty people including Saravan, Saraswathi, Vijayakumar, Anand from Tamil Nadu. Out of this 5 are admitted in Periyar hospital
